Tony Mitterling, Physical Therapist

Tony MitterlingTony is a physical therapist who received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Northwestern College in 2011 and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Mary in 2017.

Tony is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and is a member of the chronic pain and vestibular special interest groups. Tony’s passion include the treatment of vestibular disorders and chronic pain. Tony utilizes balance and vestibular techniques for the management of vestibular disorders and a combination of manual therapy and exercises for the treatment of orthopedic conditions. Some of the manual techniques Tony uses include soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and manipulation. The ultimate goal of these interventions are to decrease pain or dizziness and to increase patients function.

In his spare time Tony enjoys spending time with his wife Sara and their two dogs, cooking anything and everything, going out on the river, and golfing with friends.  Email Tony at

Physical Therapy Services

Each patient entering our office is different, and therefore, so is the treatment and plan of care. Each patient is evaluated for muscle weakness, tightness, pain, reflexes, joint impairments, etc in order to get a full picture of the problem they come in for. Our goal is to create full body and joint stability within a full, pain free range of motion, and thus enabling individuals to return to all activities pain free.

The Treatment Methods:

Manual Therapy:

  • soft tissue mobilization (also known as massage techniques
  • dry needling techniques
  • the use of accupuncture needles to create a healing or neuromuscular response to help increase muscle length and to decrease muscle knots.
  • joint mobilization/manipulation
  • taking the joint to its end range and applying a force to increase joint range of motion and decrease discomfort


  • Ultra Sound
  • iontophoresis
  • electrical stimulation/TENs
  • ice/heat

Neuromuscular Re-Education:

  • neural flossing techniques
  • taping techniques
  • balance exercises

Therapeutic Exercise/ Home Exercise Program:

  • exercises will be added dependent on condition and healing process to help strengthen and stabilize weak muscle groups and prevent re-injury
